Know that your child is tutored with care and intention

I started tutoring with the aim to empower children to have the confidence to learn, as well as to love to learn and how to apply that learning in their own lives.

Education should be enjoyed and not a source of worry and anxiety, and that is why I am so dedicated to my students to help them overcome those fears.

Every child deserves to reach their full potential in life, and by giving them the right skills and encouragement, I feel fulfilled in my calling to help them in some of their most challenging years.

I would be honored to help your child reach their full potential, as well, with my particular tutoring methods. See your child blossom in one of my teaching atmospheres!

What is it like to work with Hannah?

Hannah has tutored both of my children during lockdown (5 years old and 9 years old) and they love her lessons! It is a weight off my mind to know that they are not only learning but enjoying it too.

The level of work challenges them but she very quickly picks up on their levels whether it be academic or confidence levels and adapts, there is lots of positive reinforcement, so that they always feel like they are accomplishing.

Hannah is incredibly kind and patient and obviously loves children. I happily recommend her services.

    Lucy H.

My son (8 years old) has been having lessons with Hannah throughout lockdown. He adores her and has thrived under her tuition, and not just academically.

Hannah has an incredible way with children, she is able to teach and build confidence in a calm, kind manner.

    It’s an incredible gift.

I have been able to set him up on the laptop for his online lessons and trust that Hannah will keep his attention even though she’s doing it all remotely.

I would not hesitate to recommend Hannah if you are looking for some additional tutoring support.

    Anna F.P.

Hannah has really helped support my children (6 years old and 8 years old ) with their home schooling during the recent lockdown.

She has provided a much needed structure not only to their learning but their dayand really helped to engage them and continue their education.

She was literally a life saver!

    FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions)

How can I know that tutoring is right for my child?

If your child is struggling, it’s so hard to see them be angry, discouraged, or frustrated with their school subjects.

Tutoring can help bridge the gap between their school days of learning and the homework that has to get done.

If your child has been falling behind their school’s learning pace; if they are angry, confused, or very emotional about Maths or English, this can be a strong indicator that they need a third party’s assistance.

If your child is anxious around exam time, it might be time for tutoring.

And please know that I say this with love- but I have seen so many parents suddenly panic at the end of a year or just after mock exams- please keep an eye on your student’s grades and reports and get them the assistance they need sooner, not later.

It’s heartbreaking for me to see students suddenly panic and cram their exam prep, when they could have had months of steady, weekly progress. By then, it’s almost too late to unravel the blocks in their understanding or prepare them with no anxiety entering the testing; this is very much a journey and a process, and not easily done overnight.

Why would you recommend online tutoring?

Of course, every child is unique and I am happy to discuss any concerns you might have, but I have seen so many children do so well in video conference settings. In this day and age, many of them are more comfortable with technology than their elders!

This is the reason, too, that I currently only offer in-person tuition for ages younger than key stage 2- younger students have the most difficulties sitting at the computer for the length of time we need to be effective together.

Working from the comfort of home can ease the stress of being tutored, and for both you and your student, it saves the commuting time!

I do suggest that you try it out and see how it goes- many of the blocks that exist are not due to the interface format but rather  those other root causes that we will be working through as we meet together.

    Why choose my tutoring services?

    1. My long years of experience. After a lifetime of working with children and eleven years of teaching, I can identify what works best on an individual basis.

    2. The range of that experience. Not only have I worked with many children, but I have also worked with children who were in special units, including those dealing with learning disabilities and anxieties surrounding their studies.

    3. My Maths & English expertise. You want a specialist, and my years of tuition have centered around these two subjects.  I’ve been proud to serve many students and seen them successfully pass their GCSE exams, as well. I’m passionate about delivering a quality experience for your student.

    4. My coaching expertise. As a fully certified and practicing coach, I am a tutor who also knows how to identify and work with emotions, mental blocks, and so much more.

I know that one size doesn’t fit all, and I am happy to meet you for a quick 15 minute chat about my services and answer any questions you might have with no pressure or strings attached. I truly wish to give you the best advice for your student.

What is your tutoring process like?

First, we will have a discovery call, where you and I and will get to know one another. I’ll meet your student and we will discuss areas of concern and goals for going forward.

If you should choose my services, I’ll then send you contracts and invoices- these must be signed and paid before tuition begins.

We will also be scheduling times for 1:1 tuition or private coaching services.

I recommend being in place for our meetings at least five minutes prior, with all distractions set aside and at most, a cup of water and a healthy snack at hand.

When I work with students in group format, we will be going over the building blocks of each subject- for instance, in maths, we will discuss things such as times tables or median, mode, and range. In English, we might work on spelling, literature by reading through a classic book together such as The Railway Children or Little Women. I enjoy changing each week up with a little game to play that reinforces what we are working on.

For GCSE students, we use the national curriculum as a guide and go carefully over what they’ll need to know for the exams. This can begin at either year 10 or 11.

Throughout our time together, I will send you regular feedback and updates, so that you are well-informed of your student’s progress, as well as my recommendations for their future in these subjects.

By the end of the academic year/summer break, your child will have gained confidence and gotten the dedicated help that they needed in these foundational subjects!
